Yale Digital Recording Door Viewer – Review
As a home owner there is nothing more important to your house than security. About 11,500 homes a year are victims of strangers coming into their house posing as officials to gain entry with full intention of stealing.
So to prevent these unfortunate events you’d think a peep hole would be sufficient? Well think again! I have reviewed the company Yale who are known for their locks, have come up with a recording digital door viewer so that you can clearly see from metres away without having to strain your eye through the peep hole. With a 3.5 inch digital screen you can stand at a reasonable distance away to see who’s at the door at any angle.
Not only does it record but take still images that automatically saves onto the removable 512MB SD card when the integrated door bell is pressed; these also include the current date and time of when the recording and still image was taken for referencing with.
You’d imagine that at night this digital door viewer might become useless but the device used to record and take images has a built in infrared camera with a night mode function to ensure that even the darkest of doorways can be viewed easily.
If you’re after a cheaper alternative and don’t think that you’ll need a recording option then Yale also have the regular digital door viewer that has similar features of the recording digital door viewer. The screen is 3.2 inch which is only 0.3 inches smaller but still does just as good job for viewing them intruders before they get a chance to enter.
A simple button is clearly located at the front of the device to active the recording and start viewing. Just incase you forget to switch it off it has an automatic switch-off after just 10 seconds to prevent any unnecessary recording and wastage of power.
Both devices are battery powered so you don’t have worry if there is some sort of power cut and can be easily fitted to your door. I would definitely recommend buying either one of these products and for only £30 more you can get a recording feature that might just prove completely worth it one day.
